John “Jack” Koopman

John H. “Jack” Koopman, 82, of Lafayette, IN died at St. Elizabeth East Hospital in Lafayette 1:14 PM Monday June 6, 2016. He had been residing in Creasy Springs Health Center in Lafayette since January. Jack was born in Fulda, MN November 16, 1933, the son of the late Ferdinand and Margaret (Apel) Koopman. He was a graduate of Fulda, MN High School and received his degree in Pharmacy from South Dakota State University. Jack was a veteran of the Marine Corps, serving during the Korean War. He retired as a pharmacist and store manager, being employed with OSCO Drug for 39 years, serving stores in the Midwest, with many years in Lafayette, IN at the Market Square store and lastly at the store on Main Street. Jack married Margaret A. Lowe at Slayton. MN June 13, 1959 and she preceded him in death October 15, 2003. He was a member of St. Mary Cathedral, Lafayette Lions Club, Lafayette Serra Club, John Purdue Club, and the Senior Citizens Club of St. Mary’s. Surviving is a daughter, Mary Elizabeth Koopman of Noblesville, IN and a son, Mark J. Koopman (wife Leslie Ann) of Battle Ground, IN; and by two grandchildren, Jack Michael and Elijah John Koopman. He was preceded in death by five sisters, LaVerne, Leota, Monica, Margaret Mary and Beverly. If friends desire, memorials may be made to St. Mary Cathedral.
Graveside services will be at St. Ann’s Cemetery in Slayton, MN on Saturday, July 2, 2016 at 10:00 a.m. with Fr. Gregory Parrott officiating.
